As a company that purposefully harnesses a synergy across all three prongs of our organisation, Collab Company is always in discussions around how development in one area might support the development of another within our ways of working. We are acutely aware that the boundaries that exist between professional and amateur performing arts and arts education within this region are often blurred, and as a company which offers multigenerational opportunities for training and tutoring, accredited courses, networking, community theatre as well as professional gigs and productions, this will require a strong stance on how we choose to engage with professionals, amateurs, trained and training members of our local and international creative communities. As such, we have opted to activate a clause for any auditions or recruitment practices involving professional, paid opportunities which are produced by or directly associated with Collab Company. At its core, this clause will prevent any individual who has not engaged with Collab Company in a community-centric capacity (participating in pop-ups, programs or productions) within the previous summer or winter seasons from accessing professional, paid opportunities. This ensures that even within our professional space, whether locally or internationally, we are engaging in our cyclical collaborative structure which ensures that we do not simply recruit or audition professionals over amateurs, locals over internationals in a practice which we believe impedes the our core belief in individual access to and advancement of the arts. This is something which underpins our entire ethos. For more information on how this will work, please pay attention to our social spaces or reach out to Lauren Noble directly.
